Hey all!I have very little else to say this week, except that I was referred to as “the gold standard of Lost commentators”. This is only like the third time that I’ve ever been complimented in my life, so it’s pretty exciting for me.
Here’s what you’ll be watching this week!
MONDAY
ABC
8-10 THE BACHELOR – The women tell all! And it looks like that will include the woman who was kicked off the show for having an “improper relationship” with a crew member. And since that woman claims that ABC is full of it, that should be pretty swell.
FOX
9-10 24 – Dear FOX – I see you’re still trying to get me emotionally involved with new characters, one of whom is played by Freddie Prinze Jr. This is not working. Please replace their screen time with Jack Bauer punching dudes. Thanks.
TNT
10-11 MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE – Season Finale! I’m telling you, this show is really good. Last week, Joe bought a house with his gambling winnings, Snowflake quit his father’s dealership for a new job, and Terry was hanging out with his own personal Vinnie Chase. None of this can end well.
*** all Late Night listings are lovingly copy & pasted from Talk Show News ***

And we saved the world together for a while, and that was lovely. Then Kelvin died, and now here I am, all alone. The end.” – Desmond Hume TUESDAY
FOX
8-10 AMERICAN IDOL – The top 12 female semi-finalists perform, desperate in the knowledge that last week the Olympics handed Idol its first-ever ratings defeat and it is probably their fault.
ABC
9-10 LOST – All right, after the big mythology-breaking episode of last week, it looks like this week we’re catching up on Claire, while Hurley and Jack go on an unspecified mission. Also, this is the 108th episode. I think if we press the button before it’s over, we reboot back to Season One. Feel like dealing with Boone again?
DISCOVERY
9-10 DIRTY JOBS – In this meta-episode, Mike tries to find the perfect job for his crew before they go on hiatus. Yeah, that’s right, they’re going outside the box and reaching into our world. It’s like when Animal Man met Grant Morrison! Or if Jacob turns out to be Damon Lindelof! Man, I’m totally going to have to recap this episode.
David Letterman: Jamie Foxx, Amanda Seyfried, Robin Thicke (R 2/4/10)
Jay Leno: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Jimmy Kimmel: David Spade, "Trailer Park Boys" Rob Wells, Mike Smith & John Paul Tremblay, Miss Willie Brown Craig Ferguson: Stephen Fry Jimmy Fallon: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Carson Daly: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Tavis Smiley: Gabriel Thompson Daily Show: Jeff Garlin Colbert Report: Olympic coverage with guest TBA Chelsea Lately: Danica Patrick, Jo Koy, Josh Wolf, Whitney Cummings Lopez Tonight: Ray Romano, Lake Bell, Mariah Carey (R 12/17/09) The View: Ricky Gervais, cast members from "Jersey Shore" Regis and Kelly: Diane Sawyer Ellen DeGeneres: Ewan McGregor, Gordon Ramsay, "American Idol" castoff Shelby Dressel Bonnie Hunt: Parker Posey, Matt Bomer, Brian Kiley WEDNESDAY
FOX
8-10 AMERICAN IDOL – The 12 male semi-finalists perform, but the proceedings are thrown into chaos when one of them turns out to be Christopher Chance, the Human Target! Probably not. It’s just very hard to write three times a week about a show I’ve never watched.
FX
10-11 NIP/TUCK – It’s the second-to-last episode of the series, and Ava Moore returns! Yeah! Julia also swings by, to remind everybody that she used to be on this show. Place your bets, folks. Do the two leads survive the next two episodes? Does their business?
David Letterman: Bruce Willis, Ne-Yo (R 2/1/10)
Jay Leno: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Jimmy Kimmel: TBA Craig Ferguson: Don Cheadle, Jeannette Walls Jimmy Fallon: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Carson Daly: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Tavis Smiley: Sen. Sherrod Brown Daily Show: Tracy Morgan Colbert Report: Olympic coverage with guest TBA Chelsea Lately: Radha Mitchell, John Caparulo, Bill Bellamy, Arden Myrin Lopez Tonight: Ludacris, Elisha Cuthbert (R 1/28/10) The View: Nadya Suleman, Danielle Steel Regis and Kelly: Jeffrey Donovan, Joan Rivers Ellen DeGeneres: Woody Harrelson Bonnie Hunt: Lauren Conrad, Ruby Gettinger THURSDAY
-For some reason, there is no new Project Runway this week. Also, no new Archer on FX, but there is a four episode mini-marathon. So get your giant Johnny Bench hands on the remote and watch it!
CBS
8-9 SURVIVOR – Maybe it’s the fact that they’re branded as “Heroes” and “Villains” that makes them so unlikeable. The Heroes are full of themselves (Stupid Rupert! Hate you so much!) and the Villains are obsessed with living up to their reputations. Of course, it works out because so many of the challenges so far have involved them just straight-up hitting one another. I could watch that all day.
FOX
8-9 AMERICAN IDOL – Four contestants are eliminated, all in the name of giving you people your Top 20. I hope you’re proud of yourselves.
9-10 KITCHEN NIGHTMARES – Hey, thanks for getting instantly cancelled, Past Life. You opened up a slot on the schedule for Gordon Ramsay! Truly, you have given more to us in death than you ever did in life.
10-11 BURN NOTICE – Fiona tries to bargain with a paranoid kidnapper. You know, if you’re a kidnapper, your paranoia is probably justified. They really are out to get you.
COMEDY CENTRAL
10-10:30 IMPORTANT THINGS WITH DEMETRI MARTIN – I’m going to go out on a limb and predict this episode will be 33% really funny, 33% self-indulgent, and 33% lazy. I know, I’m bold like that.
10:30-11 THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM – Sarah campaigns for a fake mayoral candidate. Yes, said candidate is named “May Kadoody”. I’m not even going to pretend I didn’t giggle.
David Letterman: Drew Brees, Sandra Bullock (R 2/8/10)
Jay Leno: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Jimmy Kimmel: Gordon Ramsay, Ginnifer Goodwin, VV Brown Craig Ferguson: Seann William Scott, Jackie Collins Jimmy Fallon: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Carson Daly: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Tavis Smiley: Van Jones Colbert Report: Olympic coverage with guest TBA Chelsea Lately: Ben Gleib, Brad Wollack, Natasha Leggero Lopez Tonight: Jamie Kennedy, Sofia Vergara, James Van Der Beek (R 1/26/10) The View: Giuliana Rancic, Bill Rancic, Dr. Jamie Grifo Regis and Kelly: Bruce Willis Ellen DeGeneres: Felicity Huffman Bonnie Hunt: Tracy Morgan, Katharine McPhee FRIDAY
ABC
8-10 BLADES OF GLORY – How’s that for Olympic counterprogramming? Will Ferrell’s ice-skating comedy is pretty darned funny, particularly the fight scene with Will Arnett.
SYFY
9-10 CAPRICA – I really haven’t been following the critical reception, but is it just me, or is this not very good? I’m pretty sure that, Patton Oswalt and Paula Malcomson aside, it’s not very good.
HBO
9-9:30 THE RICKY GERVAIS SHOW – Animating a podcast may not be the best idea ever, but the first episode was really funny. The animation is almost unnecessary, but the original material is gold. Actually, I really like the character design for Karl, especially the way that he’s always frowning. It’s adorable.
David Letterman: Harrison Ford, Lou Reed & the Blind Boys of Alabama (R 1/21/10)
Jay Leno: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Jimmy Kimmel: Kara DioGuardi, Daniel Merriweather Craig Ferguson: Quentin Tarantino Jimmy Fallon: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Carson Daly: Pre-empted for Olympics coverage Tavis Smiley: Joseph Stiglitz, Michael Bernard Beckwith Chelsea Lately: Lisa Edelstein, Josh Wolf, Heather McDonald, Ryan Stout (R 2/17/10) The View: Regis & Joy Philbin Regis and Kelly: Maggie Gyllenhaal Ellen DeGeneres: Leonardo DiCaprio Bonnie Hunt: Seann William Scott, Shiri Appleby, Owen Benjamin SATURDAY
NBC
SUNDAY
CBS
8-9 THE AMAZING RACE – Oh Jeff, I had forgotten how much better TV is when you’re on it. Embarrassing man-crush alert!
CARTOON NETWORK
12-12:15 am AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE – “Monster” Probably not inspired by the Charlize Theron movie, but I’m not willing to completely discount the possibility.
Ever yours,
Slumpy
“We’re friends. But just imagine how much better our friendship would be if we added… doin’ it.” – Tom Haverford And to make your Monday a little brighter, here's Bo Bice's "Blades of Glory" from the Blades of Glory soundtrack. Amazing how life sometimes get tied up in a beautiful bow, eh?
